“6-28-05″ (MEMORIAL WORKOUT)

Friday, June 25th, 2010

API Virginia Beach is holding a special memorial workout on 6/28/10 for our fallen brothers at arms that were taken from our loved ones during ‘Operation Redwing’.

Operation Redwing was a failed counter-insurgent mission in Kunar province, Afghanistan, involving four members of the United States Navy SEALs, which took place on June 28, 2005.

Three of the SEALs were killed during the initial operation, as were other American Special Operations soldiers (SEALs and Nightstalker pilots) whose helicopter was shot down while flying to provide support and rescue to the team.

Date:
Saturday, June 26, 2010
Time:
8:30am – 1:30pm
Location:
First Landing Park, VA

Description

We are setting up the next x corp race and this time we are hoping the water isn’t quite as cold. By popular demand we are having this race on a Sat instead of Sunday this time around. We are going to be having this one at First Landing State Park again but will be totally different than our last race so come prepared. Unless things change at the last minute we are going to be setting up four man teams and we are also going to be allowing teams to sign up together this time around as long as you have at least one girl per team. If you do not have four people or a girl for your team we will assign teams the morning of as we have always done in the past. The order of the events might change slightly due to weather conditions the morning of the race but it will be as follows.

1. About a 1-1.5 mile run with a 200 M swim.
2. 4.5 mile bike
3. 1 mile run/challenge
4. 1 mile bike
5. 1.5 mile run
6. 4 mile bike

This is a basic outline of the event but we will be adding some physical challenge tasks along the way that will keep this ffrom just being a triathlon type event. You are going to need a bike again and I would recommend a mountain bike but any bike will work for you. You will also need to bring a digital camera, 2 zip lock bags and a small back pack. You are going to be carrying the camera with you so I would not bring a really nice camera. The main thing is to get motivated and come on out, we have all different fitness levels out there so don’t let anything hold you back.
The cost of the race will be 25 per person and you will be receiving a t shirt and we will provide beer a pizza after the race. We look forward to seeing you out there and check out some of our sponsor sites. This time around we also have three awesome gyms, a clothing company and Shorebreak sponsoring us so check out their web sites.

Caveman Training Instructor Certification

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Date: TBA
Location: API Virginia Beach
Cost: $1,100 per person

The Caveman Instructor Training Program is a one of a kind Instructor Development Program designed by Athletic Performance Inc.  It is recommended that participants in the Instructor program register at least eight weeks in advance of the seminar date.  Upon successful registration, the participant will receive a Basic Knowledge package which includes text books, handouts and a Basic Knowledge Exam.  The Exam must be successfully passed prior to the participant attending the seminar.

Upon passing the Basic Knowledge Exam, the next step is to attend the three-day, 25+ hour course that covers multiple topics which will function as the ground work for persons wishing to become API Certified Caveman Instructors. Upon successful completion of the course, New Caveman Instructors will have the basic knowledge which will allow them to teach and lead API’s Programs at their own facilities. The Caveman Instructor Training Program is an intensive course that not only pushes the potential instructors mentally but physically as well. Successful participants must not only pass a Written Test, but they also must pass a Practical Test and other graded presentations given throughout the course. Failure to pass any one of these requirements will mean a failure and the participant will not receive Certification. There is a NO REFUND policy in effect.
